Paul Zilungisele TEMBE (谭哲理) is the founder and Director of SELE Encounters, focusing on Cross-Cultural & Civilizational communication strategies. His academic pursuits encompass historical studies, linguistic theories, ICT, cultural studies, and foreign policy. He has an M.A in Kiswahili Studies from Uppsala University, Sweden, and a PhD in Chinese Studies from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He has researched and taught at renowned institutions including the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Stellenbosch University, and Rhodes University, among others. His ongoing research examines geopolitical paradigm shifts in a study titled "Fear of Equality – Instilling Meritocracy".

As an author, TEMBE has penned "Ubuntu Beyond Identities" and is the lead editor for "Culture, Identities and Ideology in Africa-China Cooperation". He also authored books focusing on Xi Jinping and the China-South Africa relationship. Additionally, he has contributed to various other publications on Africa-China relations and South African political economy.

He is multilingual, with proficiency in languages such as English, Mandarin, Portuguese, Kiswahili, Swedish, SeSotho, Xitsonga, and IsiZulu.
